Aesthetic Adventurer | Lecture Series | Frida & Diego | The Last Dream
Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 5pm EST
Planned to coordinate with The Museum of Modern Art’s upcoming exhibition Frida and Diego: The Last Dream on view until September 12, 2026, this lecture presents a selection of works by Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) and Diego Rivera (1886–1957) on view from MoMA’s collection as well as other works and initiatives by this celebrated artistic couple. In addition to highlighting the show, we will not only explore their studios and individual art practices but also their influence on and contributions to the broader Mexican avant-garde and Surrealist circles in which they participated. As a bonus, we will reflect on the Metropolitan Opera’s premiere of El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego (May 14–June 5, 2026) by Grammy Award–winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank and Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz.
